Connext vs. Optics

The Optics protocol can be used to pass generalized data between arbitrary chains. For this, a tradeoff between locally and externally verified systems is used. Targeted are both slow and infrequent arbitrary messages that pass between blockchains. A bonded relayer is utilized which can be slashed for acting maliciously i.e. when posting incorrect data.

Optics is a complementary part of the interoperability stack and could potentially be utilized by Connext as slashing mechanism for penalizing malicious router trying to grief users.
